About
Lawrence Buttigieg was awarded his PhD from Loughborough University in 2014. Besides pursuing a career in architecture, he is also a freelance researcher and artist. Working with the female model, his practice-led research examines concepts of alterity and subjectivity while challenging the dominant role of male subjectivity in the western world. His recent work takes the form of body-themed box-assemblages through which he mediates between himself and the other via a self-reflexive process of both mirroring and distancing at one and the same time. By way of these artefacts he also addresses concepts of sacrality and femininity.
